Karen Deimert
Hello! I’m Karen and I want to share with you what has brought me to become a yoga instructor and Holy Yoga. I was first introduced to yoga in 1977 and re-discovered yoga at a local gym in 1999. Through breathing and intentional movement, years of accumulated sports injuries slowly unraveled. Although I found the physical aspect of yoga helped me find balance and healing in my body, it was the mind and spirit aspects of yoga that brought calm and stress relief to my busy, hectic life. I found that putting aside the daily grind of life that I was able to feel the presence of God, deepening my connection with Him. I had a vision of God calling me to bring yoga to the Christian community, sharing what I experience on my mat. |
I took the leap and enrolled in the Teacher Training Program in 2008 to become a yoga instructor and have been teaching in the Sherwood Park area since 2009. In 2013 I became certified through Holy Yoga, to teach a physical worship of the Lord through prayer, meditation, breath and movement. I also went on to complete the 500 hour Holy Yoga Masters program in 2015.
Mark 12:30 “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength”
I am excited to share my love of yoga and love of God. Through a mixture of both dynamic and static poses, I encourage my students to honor their body as they build strength and flexibility, calm their minds and to surround the movement with breath. With gentleness and compassion students are lead in a practice that focuses their minds on scripture, connecting with Jesus on their faith journey.
